˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ Materials ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚
ʚ Here you can find general information about what materials we use to create your jewelry ɞ
˚ʚ Stainless steel components ɞ˚
Most Novyra jewelry is made with a mix of 304 and 316 stainless steel.
Both compositions are classified as
stainless steel, the natural brilliance of the color will remain
unchanged over time and your jewelry will not suffer the much feared
oxidation.
˚ʚ Gold plated components ɞ˚
Gold coloured Novyra jewelry is made from PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) gold plated stainless steel findings (such as jump rings, eye- and headpins, clasps, chains).
PVD plating is ashiny plating, with a bright color and
high resistance, also known as vacuum plating: it is among the most
modern and ecological plating processes, used in various production
areas, highly appreciated for its brilliance and effectiveness.
Some of our jewelry pieces may include pendants or additional metal components, such as laser-cut shapes (e.g., wings). These are typically gold-plated and most commonly made from bronze or brass. When such materials are used, they are always noted in the product description. If you're unsure whether a piece includes brass, bronze, or any metals other than stainless steel, please don’t hesitate to contact us. - we’re happy to help!
˚ʚ Beads ɞ˚
We primarily use authentic Czech glass beads in our designs, complemented by high-quality Miyuki and TOHO beads.
Our more intricate and higher-end necklaces often feature unique lampwork beads, which we source mainly from small artisan businesses across Europe.
Some pieces may also include ceramic, wooden, or stainless steel beads. On rare occasions, we incorporate quartz or crystal elements. All materials used are always listed in the product description.
˚ʚ Other materials ɞ˚
We also incorporate a variety of other materials in some of our designs, all of which are always listed in the product description. These may include:
- UV resin – commonly used to coat our dried flowers
- Dried flowers and plants
- Polymer clay (mainly Sculpey Premo)
- Air-dry modeling clay (Fimo & DAS)
- PLA (all of our clay cutters and 3d printed products)
On very rare occasions, or as part of special seasonal collections, we may also use other materials such as seashells. As always, any such components are clearly mentioned in the product description.
˚ʚ Split rings vs Jump rings ɞ˚
Currently Most of Our Jewelry Is Made With Jump rings (unless stated otherwise), In The Future We Will Make More Jewelry With Split Rings. You Can Choose Between The Two When Buying Custom Orders.
Jump Rings
Pros:
- More elegant look
- Flexible movement – Pieces drape more naturally on the body.
- Easier repairs/adjustments
- Slightly cheaper and easier to work with
- Better for delicate, complex pieces.
Cons:
- Less stress resistant - it can last a very long time if handled properly (no pulling, tagging etc.), but if it gets stuck or is constantly under pressure it’s more likely to open
- Should be used for less heavy pieces
Split Rings
Pros:
- Much more secure – Very unlikely to come apart accidentally (during normal use!)
- Better for active lifestyles – Holds up well with daily wear and movement.
- Great for heavier ans simpler pieces
Cons:
- Can feel a bit bulkier and stiff compared to Jump rings
- Bit more expensive and harder to work with
- Harder to make detailed pieces with it
